DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCEDURE
Mud poultice application is one of the most common sanatorium-resort therapy procedures. It is a well-established practice in the treatment of joints, dermatological and vascular diseases.
HOW THE PROCEDURE IS PERFORMED?
Poultice applications involve substances with high effective heat capacity and low conductivity. Apart from dry heat sources (salt, sand), the peloids (mud) and peloid-like substances (paraffin, earth wax, clay) are often used. They cause blood flow to the affected area, stimulate metabolic reactions, and have a mild pain alleviating effect. Duration: 10-20 min., interval: 1-2 days
